What is your biggest dilemma and myth about NMIMS?

For starters, is my classroom in the glass building? Finance or Marketing ?

Vaayu or montage ? Aditi canteen or Sai canteen ? Focus more on internals or externals ?

This avenger is one of y’all who has faced the same myths and dilemmas like everyone else.

Don't worry, we got you covered with our Avenger master mind. Not only will we provide you with fun facts but also help you clear out any doubts about the same.

#MYTH&DILEMMA 1

The journey at NMIMS begins the day we go to the mesmerising NMIMS ‘glass’ building to confirm our admissions. I remember walking down the colossal hallways , looking at the eye -capturing view from the lifts, feeling delightful listening to the fine-tuned music of the piano, an ambrosial canteen, the campus life most of us want and expected at NMIMS. Little did we know that those dreams were going to be only dreams when the reality kicked in , making the 7th and 8th floor our second home for 3 years of our college life.

#MYTH&DILEMMA 2

The second step in our journey is the orientation day , when everything is new , you have no clue which club to join or what to do next . You’re in such a dilemma that you feel like applying to almost all the clubs but you know you can’t commit to them all . You’re overwhelmed by how much you can learn , experience and grow here. Some of us have a steady plan, from being a member to a core member while some of us are still figuring out what excites them the most . At that moment it’s right to say ‘go with the flow ‘ ,remain unruffled with what others are doing , you don’t have to feel the #fomo of loosing out on things , you have 3 whole years to experience and explore what’s best for you as we all know NMIMS has a place for everyone!

#MYTH&DILEMMA 3

The most predominant myth that exists is that :‘#Marketing is theory ‘ and ‘#Finance is calculations and practicality ‘. A lot of us choose our stream on the basis of this mind set that ‘ I don’t like theory ‘ I have to take Finance , ‘I can’t do accounts ‘ , I have to take Marketing ‘, rather than learning what we have interest in.

Breaking this myth for everyone who is reading this. Think about creating content, understanding a consumer’s behaviour, making a website, selling , handling social media, distribution and sales management, service marketing , writing a blog, would this come under the category of ‘ theory’ ? It’s practicality, creativity and most importantly people’s skills , no amount of theory can teach that .

Think about all the formulas, technical terms and conditions , accounts, balance sheet formats one needs to understand and learn before solving any problem , calculating any account , investing in any financial markets or trading. The list is long and extensive to prove that both theory and practicality go hand in hand. Hence dealing with the dilemma of choosing a stream should be selected on your passion and not on the myth .

#MYTH&DILEMMA 4:

Is it just me or most of the times are you too confused about what to eat? From Which canteen ? Near which canteen are your friends ? Didn’t it take a while to not get confused between Sai canteen and Aditi Canteen ? and then plan to go to NMIMS Canteen? but end up eating at the Anand’s stalls?

To manage and solve these dilemmas in the tine-tiny breaks we get is really tough . Hence avenging these dilemma , here is brief about the canteens and it’s specialities:

1. Sai Canteen : if you’re looking for healthy snacks which are fulfilling and in the closest distance to your class , this should be your go to place, be it for Paneer Panini or fruit bowl or baked chips . But don’t we all love cheat meals ? This canteen is also known for its range of Lays ,ice creams and oven Maggie.

P.S : for those who get lost and are always in a dilemma to find this place it is ‘on the other side of Aditi’ #LOL , meaning the Annexure part of the building .

2. Aditi canteen : known for its aloo ke parathe , cutting-chai and pav-bhaji,

if you’re looking for fast foods and related types of cuisines this is your one -stop for all .Nothing beats this flavoursome canteen which also has an extended version present on the ground floor !

3. NMIMS Canteen : even though it’s a street and a lot of steps across , this canteen is the most hygienic and biggest of all ! It provides a wide range of cuisines from Chinese, Indian and Italian to deserts like cheesecake , ice-cream and laddoos . Most importantly it has air conditioners!

4. Anand Stalls : keeping up the street food culture , these stalls are popular across Mumbai , known for its great variety of dishes from South Indian cuisine and their delicious ranges Vada-pavs.

I’m sure after reading this , your mouth is watering with these cravings, we can’t fulfil because of COVID-19. Hopefully ,the myths and dilemmas are a little less diluted. Isn’t it beautiful how we can look back at this journey as we closer to our endgame and appreciate it when we can’t have it now ?
