CLUBS – A Roller Coaster Ride

Going to college is not an option for most kids in this country. It is like a necessity or eligibility criteria for leading a successful life in the future. Though we can’t choose going to college, what we can definitely choose is how we wish to live our college life. And clubs form the most integral part of that.
As a kid who is going to enter a completely new and different environment, it becomes almost essential to make friends. While some might say that, “it happens in the process” or “good friends are made over time”, I say that’s nonsense. You make friends in the most unpredictable and unexpected ways in your life. You might not stay friends with some people forever, but you do get to know some amazing people who you then cherish forever.
That is the beauty of college life. And here at NMIMS, being in a club sure gives you that head start to meeting the most amazing people that you would cherish forever.

Clubs give you so much more than just friends. They help you grow as an individual, a person you never thought you are capable of becoming. The confidence that being in a club provides you with is something that no personality development course could ever do.
However, the main aim of a club is to have FUN,
And ‘We could do this all day”
And for that simple reason, selecting a club of your interest is very important. This is not much of a problem here at NMIMS because there is something for everybody.
So let me introduce to you to some interesting clubs that NMIMS has to offer:
VAAYU
Vaayu is the club which organizes the college festival of NMIMS ASMSOC, that is “Vaayu”. Seems exciting doesn’t it? It sure does.
It is considered to be one of the top clubs at NMIMS, where almost everyone aspires to get in and experience it for once atleast.
This club does not last for the entire year though. It is a short lived club whose operations end as soon as the fest ends which is approximately by the end of December.
It is surely one of those clubs that everybody gets attracted to during the orientation. Although, the parents aren’t always pleased by it.
Vaayu interviews are something that most people are scared of. Well, they should be!
Vaayu interviews live up to the fest interview’s image as they are filled with roasts, dares, randomness, but also a lot of fun. Either you make it or break it!
All in all it’s a beautiful journey where you experience everything from sleepless nights, unmanageable fights, exhausting main days and an amazing time with your friends.
MONTAGE
“Everything Cultural”…..Yes, that’s exactly what montage is. Apart from being the cultural club of college, it is also called as the talent pool of NMIMS ASMSOC.
Talented kids from across the divisions and streams at NMIMS ASMSOC come together to form this club which consists of everything from Dance to Drama to Music, Fashion, Fine Arts, Admin and Finance and what not. They put up quite the show, which is also one of the main reasons that kids get attracted to this club at the orientation.

The interviews are claimed to be really fun and exciting where people look forward to them.
But are they only fun?
The interview experiences might differ, but the one thing that everybody agrees to is that Montage becomes your Family, to an extent where you probably forget your actual family.
All in all, Montage offers you the opportunity of an integration of some very talented, dedicated and creative people of this college that makes it a great club and helps create a beautiful journey and lot of unforgettable memories.
SRF
SRF stands for Social Responsibility Forum. The name speaks for itself. It gives you a fair idea of what you are getting yourself into when you join this club. It’s about taking necessary steps to make the environment around us better and contributing to the society in any way that we can. This club is greatly appreciated by parents especially because of the importance that its certificate holds.
Also the interviews are not that stressful here.
But a lesser known fact about SRF is that you don’t generally get to work at the forefront for actually doing the good deed. Although in the process, there is a lot of bonding that happens just like any other club. It gives amazing opportunities for people to grow and do things that they would have never even dreamt of doing.
This is coming from a person who has been a member of SRF for 3 years with one year as the HOD as well.
E-CELL
E-Cell is the entrepreneurship cell of NMIMS ASMSOC. It is that club which encourages the entrepreneurs at their bud.
E-Cell is very chill as a club with polite members to help you out at every stage. Some people also say that this club is much underrated.
The interviews are actually like serious college interviews.
Long story short, E-Cell delivers what it promises and does not claim to be something it’s not.
CIC
Similar to E-Cell is the Corporate Interface Cell of NMIMS ASMSOC. It also believes in full disclosure, whether it is the scale of the club or its deliverables.
The main motivation for people to enter this club is to improve their CVs.
ONLOOKER
Onlooker is a relatively new club as compared to all others. It handles the official magazine of NMIMS ASMSOC.
The main vision of Onlooker is to keep in mind the shortcomings of the existing clubs and work on them accordingly. They want to make Onlooker a safe and enjoyable place for their members.
At the end, I would just like to say, that you cannot get the full taste of NMIMS without trying atleast one club.
So make sure, you take full advantage of this delicacy served to you by NMIMS ASMSOC.
TECH CLUB
Tech club is the place for all the tech geniuses or anybody who is interested in computer tech like coding, photoshop and what not. This club helps you improve all your tech skills by providing you with a very informative and fun experience.
Although you do need to have some pre-existing tech skills to get into this club in the first place.
SPORTS CLUB
Looking at the campus that NMIMS has to offer, most people wouldn’t expect much from the sports club. But that isn’t true. Sports club has a lot to offer with a number of events and games planned all round the year ranging from basketball to football to badminton, chess, cricket, lawn tennis and even arcade.
You don’t specifically need to know any specific sport to be a member of this club. You can also become a part of their PR or Marketing team.
ENACTUS
Enactus is also involved with entrepreneurship functions, but what makes it unique is its vision to use these skills to transform lives and shape a better sustainable world.
It deals with undertaking various projects for making its vision come true.
NATURE'S CLUB
Yes…..NMIMS has its own nature's club!
How interesting is that. If you love adoring the nature and want to do your bit in preserving it or making other people aware about it, this is the club for you.
This club also organizes a lot of treks throughout the year.
ROTARACT CLUB
Rotaract is an international youth organization, tied up with Rotary International, which undertakes projects to bring a positive change in the world.
Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to make a difference while having fun and bonding over service. In the year 2019-20 Rotaractors have taken it upon themselves to be the change they wish to see and ‘make it happen’.
