You hear the rumble in your stomach as the last 5 minutes of the class arrive. Each minute stretches into what seems like infinity and that rumble has now turned into a growl that is powerful enough to scare a lion.
And finally, the teacher starts taking attendance; yours is done but she wants you to wait for everyone to be finished. With each and every ticking second, your impatience grows and so does the vacuum in your stomach. Why are there so many students in class? The roll call is never-ending! You wait and wait and wait… and finally it’s done. You can now open the door to freedom…culinary freedom. But now where do you eat? After all, there’s so many options to choose from!
This article is going to be a review of the best places to eat near NMIMS. It’ll be divided into 2 sections: the places you can grab a quick bite at, and the places that need some more time to be enjoyed properly.
Quick Food:
This will cover the canteens within college and eateries right outside college. Best to grab a snack at these places when you’re short on time. That being said, don’t blame me if you find a never-ending line for the food here…
1) Aditi Canteen

Find a range of filling meals at Aditi, known best for its Aloo Paratha and Pav Bhaji! This canteen on the 8th floor is great, but it’s not even half the size of the original Aditi canteen on the ground floor. There you’ll find a greater variety of all types of food- Chinese, Indian, Sandwiches, Desserts, and much more! What’s better is that the ground floor one has tables so you and your friends can comfortably enjoy a nice meal together!
2) Sai Canteen
Yes, the Paneer Paninis here are great, but let’s be real- everyone comes to this canteen for the Lay’s and Too Yum chips that sell out in no time! It is also known for its chocolate mousses and the every-day savior Maggi! Don’t worry, Sai Canteen has healthy options as well, like the Fruit Bowls and Baked Chips. This canteen is located on the other side of the 8th floor.
3) NMIMS Canteen

Oooo, the most sophisticated canteen of them all. Even though it’s across the road for us SOC students (RIP), it’s worth the walk. Featuring an air-conditioned seating area, this canteen has a variety of cuisines that will satisfy all of your hunger pangs.
4) Anand Stall

The best place for Mumbai’s famous Vada Pav- it embodies Mumbai’s street food culture in a very convenient location for us NMIMS students. Right opposite college, Anand has different types of Vada Pavs; I recommend the Grilled Cheese Vada Pav!

5) Dheeraj Stall
Craving some South Indian Food? This stall continues the street food culture and has the best dosas! Be wary of the serving sizes though, they are huge!

Feast Food:
Come to these places when you have a bit more time; maybe when you have an official free lecture or when you’ve unofficially decided to take one :p Eating here after your college lectures is also an option.
1) Prithvi Café

Located below the iconic Prithvi Theatre, this is an energetic hangout place for you and your friends. About 10 minutes away from college, take a rick and enjoy the warm string lights and bamboo décor!
As for the food, you’ll find a variety of different cuisines that are appropriately priced. I recommend the nachos with cheese, pav bhaji, hummus bowls and the chilli cheese toast.
Prithvi also has some amazing drinks; the cutting chai and the Irish coffee are a must-try!
The only problem with Prithvi is that even though there are quite a few tables, there’s always a chance that you’ll have to wait for your seat.

2) Khasiyat- The Paratha House

Khasiyat is a lowkey restaurant located at the entrance of the Vile Parle station lane, so it’s pretty much walking distance from college. It specializes in all types of parathas that are served with chole and raita.
The chilli cheese paratha is to die for! The serving sizes are pretty big but I always found myself ordering more, it was so good!

3) The Chocolate Heaven

One for the chocolate lovers- this heaven is a minute’s walk from college and hosts a variety of deserts to try out.
Popular dishes include the chocolate mud pot, Chocolate Avalanche and the Ice Cream Sundae.
With helpful service and never-ending options, this place is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth! The cute ambiance also makes it a perfect option for a romantic date!

4) Seven Hills

How can this list be complete without Seven Hills? Not really a ‘brunch’ place though, as this place is more suited for a night out with friends.
Perfect as a clubbing replacement, Seven Hills offers booze without burning a hole in your pocket. If you bring a large enough group, you can take over the whole upper floor! Freely play your own tunes and sing along like there’s no tomorrow!
I’ve made so many memories here, it’s just the right place to go as a broke college student!
5) Subway

The most mainstream restaurant on this list, the Subway near college is the right choice for health-conscious students. Near the petrol pump on the signal, the 5-minute walk help you burn some calories before eating as well!
Whether you are vegetarian or non-vegetarian, Subway has everything you need. Choose a healthy bread like multigrain, load it with veggies, and you’re good to go. Subway is filling and moderately priced as well.
Well, that’s about it for the best food near college. Did your mouth water while reading this? Mine sure did while writing it. Here's a summary of all the best food places near NMIMS:

Once this virus thing is done, imagine the first day trying Anand’s Vada Pav or Prithvi’s Puffs! Till that day comes, we can only keep dreaming.
